Hassabis publishes AGI roadmap; Microsoft bets $2.5B on deployment

The two biggest items today are Demis Hassabis outlining a public framework for frontier AI development and AGI, and Microsoft committing $2.5 billion to a dedicated AI implementation unit aimed at closing the gap between model capability and enterprise use. Both signal that leading labs and major technology companies are shifting focus from raw capability demonstrations toward structured, scalable deployment. On the infrastructure side, Spectral Compute's push to run CUDA workloads on non-Nvidia hardware is worth tracking as a longer-term threat to Nvidia's software moat. Watch whether other frontier lab leaders respond to Hassabis's framework and whether Microsoft's deployment unit attracts or displaces existing system integrators.
